Food stamps are reserved for low-income families who meet the federal program guidelines. If you receive food stamps, your aid is awarded every month via your Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. EBT cards are administered by the federal food stamp program through J.P. Morgan Chase bank. EBT cards operate like debit cards allowing you to use your card as long as there is money in your food stamp account. You can check your food stamp account online.
Visit Chase's EBT Account website to access your online food stamp account (see Resource).
Register for a new account by entering the number on the front of your EBT card, your Social Security number and full legal name.
Use the personal identification number (PIN) for your EBT card to log in to your account. Verify your account by clicking "Continue" when presented with the full address and allotment information associated with your account.
Click "My Account" to access your account balance. Since EBT cards operate like debit cards, the balance reflects the amount available in your account.
Check the bottom of your receipt each time you make a purchase with your EBT card to find your current account balance.
