While you could purchase one for $100 from a high-end manufacturer (or even the world's most expensive thong, the $122,000, diamond-studded Triumph Luxurious Diamond Thong), odds are not many people will notice the difference between it and a $2 thong from a mass merchandiser. The moral of the story is: the smaller an item is, the easier it is to get away with sacrificing quality to save a little (or sometimes a lot!) of cash.

Sales and clearance are often a great way to purchase cheap-but-still-sexy lingerie. After all, trends in lingerie fluctuate much less frequently than other fashion categories. This means that you don't need to worry about most items of lingerie on the clearance rack being dated or out of style; it also means that if you find a lingerie set you like, you can feel more free to wait to purchase it until it goes on sale without needing to worry about its becoming a fashion faux pas.

When you find a lingerie store or brand that you particularly love, sign up to be on its mailing list. That way you can receive regular updates on price cuts -- and often you can also receive coupons by mail, email or text. Using coupons is a great way to purchase the sexy lingerie you want at a price you can afford.
Inexpensive "Splurges"
For some occasions it is nice to have a high-quality piece of lingerie, but it may be difficult to justify spending a lot of money on such a tiny (yet important!) scrap of fabric. For these occasions, it also pays to consider small pieces of lingerie. For example, a luxury bra-and-panty set or babydoll might be out of your reach, even if it is on sale. Here again, the less-is-more mentality pays off! A small, silky thong or wispy negligee can be incredibly sexy -- and easier to find inexpensively than items with more structure, like a bustier or complicated ensemble.
