The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) offers a convenient way to check the status of your return and any payments you have made through its Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFPTS) website. Check the status of your refund from the IRS refund status page.
Check Payments
Step 1
Navigate to the EFTPS website.
Step 2
Click "Payments" along the top navigation bar.
Step 3
Enter your Employee Identification Number (EIN) or Social Security number in the space provided.
Step 4
Enter your PIN and Internet password you established when you enrolled online. If you haven't enrolled online, click "Enroll" above the requested login information.
Step 5
Click "Login."
Check Refund Status
Step 1
Navigate to the IRS Refund Status webpage.
Step 2
Enter your Social Security number in the space provided.
Step 3
Select your filing status.
Step 4
Under "Refund Amount," enter the exact dollar amount of the refund you expect to receive.
Step 5
Click "Submit."
