How to Check an Old Account Balance With Verizon

The company keeps records for old accounts up to 120 days, after which it turns the accounts over to a collections agency if there is a remaining balance. To find your balance on an old account, you need to call Verizon and see if the company has sold your account to collections.

Call Verizon customer service at 1-800-922-0204.

Give the customer service representative the old account number or your Social Security number. He will be able to pull up the balance if the account is 120 days old or less. If it is older than that, the company would have sold the account to a collections agency.


Step 3

Ask the representative for the number to the collections agency.


Step 4

Call the collections agency and provide your Social Security number. The agency will pull up your account balance and tell you what it is.
