TIAA-CREF is a financial services company that helps people plan for retirement. Even if you are not near retirement, you might have an account with the company that you want to close for any number of reasons. If you find yourself in this position, you are able to close your account and take your money elsewhere. In order to do this you will need to notify TIAA-CREF that you have decided to close your account and withdraw your funds.
Step 1
Log in to your account, by visiting TIAA-CREF's website.
Step 2
Click the link that reads "contact us," once you are logged in to your account.
Step 3
Click on the send an email option to send a secure email to a customer service representative. In the email let them know that you would like to close your account.
Step 4
Call customer service at 1-800-842-2252, if you prefer to speak to a representative over the phone. Let the customer service representative know that you would like to close your account. He or she will guide you through the specific steps that you need to follow.
