There are some questions in life that we don't ponder all that often, but when we do it's usually because they're suddenly pressing and urgent. For example: Wait, I just got my hair cut, how much do I tip? Good question.
Luckily, In Style had a similar question and decided to do some research and get to the bottom of things — things which are actually pretty confusing when they're all laid out. At the salon typically someone washes your hair, someone cuts it, and if you're getting it colored that's a separate person too. So, do you tip all three?
The answer to that question is yes, you tip all three. A stylist In Style spoke with recommended tipping the person who shampooed your hair $3-$5; then the recommendation is to tip the colorist and/or stylist $5-$20 depending upon how many people helped you, how generous they were with their time, how great the service was, how much the service cost, etc.
The good thing about this is that salons are really used to this confusion and often the person running the cash register will help you solve everything and divvy out tips at the end. Also when it comes to tips keep your card at home, cash is king.
