The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles charges a fee for most of its products and services, including obtaining a driver's license and state issued identification card or registering your car. The fees are uniform throughout the state and vary per service. The Florida DMV accepts a variety of payment methods, both in person at their field offices and online.

In Person Payment Methods

All Florida DMV field offices accept payment in the forms of cash, personal check, credit cards and debit cards. The Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card or American Express logos must be on the credit and debit cards. Personal checks should have your name and address printed on the front of the checks. Be prepared to show government issued photo identification when writing a personal check. Personal checks should be made out to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

Online Payment Methods

The Florida DMV online system allows you to renew your driver's license and replace a lost or stolen license, among other services. The only payment methods accepted online are credit and debit cards.
