According to a study done earlier this year, roughly 43% of Americans spend at least some time working remotely. That is a lot of people, and it's a number that's trending upward. But with so many of us working from home, freelancing, or working out of home offices, what are the tools we need to make the most of those work-from-home hours? Here are a few we think are absolute musts.
1. Amazing Internet.
Don't scrimp on the slower service, shell out here. This is the pivotal, number one most important thing you can have at home. Invest in your Internet provider, and make sure you have fast enough Internet that you're able to stream, have the television on, be listening to music, and on the Internet simultaneously. There's nothing worse than bad Internet when you're trying to get work done.
2. A desk.
Your coffee table, or bed, or kitchen counter are all well and good, but nothing (nothing) can replace a desk. You need a place to keep your things, not to mention a space where you can sit down and really feel like you're entering a work space. A desk will not let you down.
3. Clothes that are not pajamas.
Wake up, take a shower, get dressed, be a human. Lounging around in your PJs all day will feel like, well, lounging around in your PJs all day. Dressing for the job you want should not stop just because you're in your apartment.
4. Office supplies that make you happy.
One of the hardest things about working from home is staying organized, so might we suggest some fun office supplies as a little bit of inspiration to keep yourself (and your papers) in line.
