If you are replacing some tires and wheels on your vehicle in Denver, you may not want to keep the used tires and wheels around. If that is the case, you don't have to stack them up in your garage. Instead, you can attempt to sell the used wheels and tires on your own. Typically your options for selling used tires and wheels are individuals, mechanic shops and junk yards. If you are not in a hurry to get rid of the items, you can get quotes from all three and sell to the one that offers you the highest amount.

Step 1

Visit local independent mechanic shops in Denver to try to sell your tires and wheels. While they do not usually advertise it, some independent mechanic shops in Denver buy and sell used tires and wheels. Tell the shop owner what type of tires you have and how long you have used the tires. If there is a large amount of treadwear left on the tires, you may be more likely to make the sale. To get the shop owner to look at the tires and wheels, ask him to come check out the amount of treadwear left on the tires and the great condition of the wheels, provided that those two things are true.

Step 2

Post an ad in your local Denver newspaper or online on a site such as eBay Classifieds, Backpage, Craigslist or X Rims (see Resources) to advertise the items for sale in your local area. The Denver Post is the main newspaper in Denver and it has a classifieds section where you can post your ad. For a weekly Denver newspaper that accepts ads, try the Denver Westword and the Boulder Weekly, which services the neighboring Boulder area.

Step 3

Contact a junk yard or salvage yard, such as Metal Movers Denver Junk Yard and offer to sell your used tires and wheels to them. You may not get offered much at a salvage yard since the junk yards often get tires and wheels of the junk cars that they get. This should be your last resort if all other methods of trying to sell the wheels and tires have failed.
