As the world's largest home improvement specialty retailer, The Home Depot is credited with creating the "do-it-yourself" concept, an idea that now is embraced around the world. The Home Depot uses credit rating information from Equifax, one of three credit reporting agencies in the United States, to determine if applicants qualify for a Home Depot credit card. Like other companies, The Home Depot does not release specific information about its credit rating requirements. Applicants with lower credit ratings still may qualify but receive lower credit limits and higher interest rates on outstanding balances. The best way to find out if you qualify for a Home Depot credit card is to apply for one.
Consumer credit card
Apply in-store or online. To apply online, go to The Home Depot website. Click on the "Credit Services" link to the right of the search box. Under the consumer credit heading, click "Apply now."
Fill in the required fields on the application form including name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, total annual income and photo identification information (driver's license). Enter your previous address if you have resided at your current address for less than a year.
Commercial credit card
Apply in-store or online. To apply online, go to The Home Depot Website. Click on the "Credit Services" link to the right of the search box. Under the commercial credit heading, click "Apply now" under either The Home Depot Commercial Revolving Charge Card (low monthly payments or pay in full each month) or The Home Depot Commercial Account (payment due in full each month).
Fill in required fields including business name, address, phone number, total annual revenue and tax identification number. Fill in your Social Security Number if you are a sole proprietor and you do not have a tax identification number. Complete a Joint & Several Liability form.
Confirm that you have read and agree to the Initial Disclosure Statement and the Terms and Conditions. To apply online, confirm that your computer is equipped with at least a 128-bit security encrypted enabled browser and that you have a printer, computer drive or other storage device to view a copy of the Initial Disclosure Statement and Terms and Conditions. Then click "Verify Application."
You must be at least 18 years of age to apply for The Home Depot credit card.
Consumer and business credit ratings are determined by a complex calculation based on criteria such as number of credit cards, when you obtained your first loan, loan and credit card balances and whether you have experienced negative financial events such as bankruptcy or foreclosure.
A six-month no-interest promotional offer is available only on consumer credit cards; a $299 minimum purchase is required and minimum monthly payments must be remitted. Depending on your credit rating, the interest rate charged on your Home Depot consumer credit card will range from 17.99 percent annual percentage rate (APR) to 29.99 percent APR; fewer than half of applicants qualify for a rate of less than 25.99 percent APR.
