If you've changed your style or lost weight, you may have many clothes in your closet that you never wear. Don't let them sit around and clutter up your storage areas. There are several ways to turn your unused clothing items into cash.
Go through your closet and set aside anything that you have not worn in the last year. Ignore the little voice that asks what will happen if you lose or gain weight. If you lose weight, new clothes are a great pick-me-up. If you gain weight, you will probably want new clothes to match your new figure.
Check around for consignment shops. Call each of the consignment stores to see what their rates are and which clothes they will take. Consignment shops often have strict standards, so make sure your clothes are in good shape.
Take all of the clothes that the consignment shop doesn't want and sell them online. Do some research on sites like eBay and see what similar clothes are selling for. Price your items accordingly so they sell quickly.
Consider having a garage sale. This can cost you some money in advertising, but it is a good way to get rid of a lot of clothes fast. If your items are in good shape, you can still pocket a nice amount of cash.
Donate everything that you have left to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Ask them for a receipt. In most cases, you can get a tax deduction for your donation.
