So You Think You Don't Make Enough to Save?

How are you supposed to save when you never seem to have enough to spend? When you are living paycheck-to-paycheck or even paycheck-to-three-days-before-paycheck it can seem impossible to save anything. It isn't, I promise. Like anything else in life you just have to do it. Commit to saving just $10 from your pay this month and park it.

A new savings account, a prepaid card (watch those fees!), or under your mattress. Whatever, however, you just need to do it. There, you did it! $10 isn't a lot but it's more than you had before, right? That's the whole idea behind successful saving: make it automatic, treat it like a bill, pay yourself first, just do the damn thing. Take some money that you've earned, put it aside, and don't spend it. Ta da! You can totally do this.

Having trouble finding $10 to save this month? Take a look at your budget and see what you can cut. Cable? Dinners out? $100 trips to Target on WTF-ever it was that you bought? Shut it down. Trim your extra spending and save it instead. A few weeks of this and you'll see how much you can save when you put your mind to it.

Can't find anywhere to trim? Then you need to make more money. Bettering yourself through building wealth and security is a noble endeavor. No job is beneath you. This is all temporary and for the greater good.

The most important thing you can do is shift your attitude. You can do this. You can do this. You can do this. You can do this (and more).
